Living the dream

A highland existence interspersed with regular travels and running a charity in Nepal

14 June 09 William River, Saskatchewan

In June 2009, Sally and Chris joined a team of 10 others in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, on a trip to run down the William River in Northern Saskatchewan. The river is most notable for the fact that for some of its course it runs right down the side of the largest field of dunes in temperate regions, known as the Athabasca Sand Dunes, before emptying into the vast lake of Athabasca, the fourth largest lake that lies entirely within Canada
A 13 hour drive north on paved and dirt roads, via Buffalo Narrows and La Loche, took us to Carswell Lake where we spent our first night under canvas, after an excellent steak dinner.
